new completed instruments for sale

At present, there are no completed instruments for sale. My time over the last year has been largely monopolized by the construction of my new shop and, in not knowing how long construction times would take, I have not been taking orders. However, there are four, as yet, unspoken for guitars that are going to be completed in the next few months and will be featured here. The first to be finished will be a Concert Grand made of Claro Walnut with a Red Spruce top and some very involved inlays. It will be selling for $6,800.

There are also two standard braced OM guitars nearing completion, one made from Mahogany with a Red Spruce face, selling for $6,200 and another made from Koa and Englemann Spruce. That instrument will be selling for $6,500. Finally, I’m finishing up a small Parlor #5 with Indian Rosewood back and sides and an Englemann spruce top. This has some very elaborate inlays that are inspired by Japanese ink paintings of bamboo and it will be selling for $6,200.

I build in limited production runs of specific instrument models, generally five or six at a time. By working in this manner, I’m able to put more of my time towards those elements of construction where hand detail makes a difference and less time in doing things like setting machines up. Typically when I build a run of a particular model, I’ll use woods and levels of decoration that will range from very simple and limited in expense to very ornate with heavily figured woods at an increased cost. If someone has an interest in one of the instruments to be built and would like some specific woods or ornament, please contact me by email or phone to discuss how that works.

My instruments will be seen first here on my website and then will be placed at one of the music stores I work with across the country.

Base prices of my instruments reflect the cost of a basic, largely unadorned instrument made from woods that are chosen predominantly for their sound qualities. The base price for my Small Parlor #5 is $5,800. Base price for my FB OM, as well as my FS model is $6,200. My Concert Grand base price is $6,600. My mandolin base price is for a standard peghead model and it runs $5,800. My Scroll head Mandolin has a base price of $6,600. These prices are current as of June, 2021.
